So many reasons: erosion of tax rates for anything but wages; dwindling federal support for higher education combined with astronomical tuition increases; our failed healthcare and retirement systems; inadequate protectionism in our trade policy; rise of the parasitic financial class; lack of shared vision and overall selfish mindset of our citizenry; political apathy; financial corruption of our democratic process; lack of government support for industry . . .
I cannot choose just one. It’s a mess.
