to ascertain the facts and obtain any additional information necessary
from me before slandering my reputation by labeling my account
“fraudulent”, closing it, and denying me service?

Otherwise, in this world of facebook, and youtube, and live streaming,

I would remind the editorial board that the actual resonse of this adminstration was to actively interrogate the alleged producer of this video, whisk said producer off, hooded and hand-cuffed (great picture of the arrest available via google images) and then decry the content of the video to whomever would listen. It sounds as if it certainly caused this editorial board to listen.

So it’s something of a joke, then, that this editorial board would applaud Barry’s obfuscating speech yesterday as a “defense of free speech”, when clearly, it was more Gastapo jack booted intollerance. Please, editorial board, don’t let the facts hit you squarely in the face. And once again, shouldn’t this organization (WAPO) have to register as a campaign operation for Barry?

There are no words that excuse the killing of innocents. There is no video that justifies an attack on an Embassy. There is no slander that provides an excuse for people to burn a restaurant in Lebanon, or destroy a school in Tunis, or cause death and destruction in Pakistan.

However, I do believe that it is the obligation of all leaders, in all countries, to speak out forcefully against violence and extremism. It is time to marginalize those who – even when not resorting to violence – use hatred of America, or the West, or Israel as a central principle of politics. For that only gives cover, and sometimes makes excuses, for those who resort to violence

Most of the current problems in the Middle East and North Africa were created by The Europeans and America.

What most people are not taking into account is that almost the entire middle east and North Africa were was occupied and ruled by European Nations even as recently as the 1940s, and then replaced by strong men who were picked by the departing colonial powers. They really have not had any experience yet of living in real democracies, and you can lay much of the blame for that on the Europeans and the Americans; since they overthrew the elected government of Iran to install the puppet Shah, for British Oil Interests.

We need to stop lying to ourselves and pretending that our hands have always being clean.

Every American should stand for free speech and the media, whose independent existence depends on it, should stand particularly tall. Alas, talk about free speech is cheap and standing up by action is easier. I don’t think this administration or the media, in their actions, have stood particularly tall against the threat of violence from some Muslims. The makers of the stupid film clips were blamed for the violence were brought in for questioning. Military men on active duty called Americans to suggest they not engage in free speech. Any suggestion that a culture that spawns the aggressive pushing of their values upon an overseas population is vile is met with a chorus of tsks from the media and such culturally insensitive remarks are censored.

I have no interest in the crude film depicted in the clips but I might be interested in a film about Muhammed but its clear that Hollywood may be desperate for ideas but not desperate enough to stand up for free expression.

The speech was good, although 2 weeks overdue. He spent too much time criticizing the film, which was confusing to those Muslims who don’t understand freedom of speech. He has failed to explain why Muslims should not fear the free flow of ideas.

His policies in the Middle East are about as good as they can be. It is a very complicated area of the world, but I would not say that he represents the best of diplomacy.

We need to address the Palestinian problem, which he has not. He is distancing himself from Israel, which I agree with–as long as it helps bring out much needed change. Criticizing Israel without an alternative plan just confuses things.

He left those supporting a change in Iran dangle and he seemed naive in prematurely embracing the changes in Egypt.
