discussed use of Zakat (giving of alms) as a financial instrument to alleviate the suffering of the poor.

Listen
Abd Al-Hafiz Al-Sawi, an economist with the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), in an interview in the BBC’s ‘Open Agenda’ program, discussed use of Zakat (giving of alms) as a financial instrument to alleviate the suffering of the poor. This raised some confusion as certain newspapers circulated ‘news’ of the Muslim Brotherhood seeking to impose compulsory Zakat on every Muslim.

Sawi said, in a statement to IkhwanWeb: “Clearly, we seek to reduce the glaring inequalities in society and to eradicate poverty. Zakat is a financial tool that can ease the burden on the state budget and meet the needs of the poor. It is not only a type of charity, but a duty imposed on rich Muslims by our Islamic Sharia, too.”

He added: “Zakat funds should be distributed among all Egyptians, Muslims and non-Muslims, because Islam demands it.”

Sawi went on, saying: “The use of endowment and Zakat funds – properly linked to State general plans – can supplement resources for the state budget deficit.”

He stressed that this proposal is supportive of the economics of any country seeking real progress and development. It is an economic vision applied successfully in some countries such as Malaysia. There are many powerful economic studies about it. It is also a fundamental part or our faith, rooted in the teachings of our religion which helps us fight , even eradicate poverty.

It is worth mentioning that the FJP’s economic program seeks to identify the responsibility the state, as well as the responsibility of financially-capable members of society, in the process of distribution and re-distribution, and through “investments of Finance”, ie taxes, according to the standard requirements for providing a good life for the poor and needy.

The party’s economic program aims to maximize the role of community-based economy in the economic system by establishing more NGO’s and allowing them more freedom, while emphasizing the role of institutions of Zakat, Waqf (endowment) and all acts of voluntary giving, and their strong participation in economic life, leading to the strengthening of community participation and fostering a climate of solidarity and compassion in society at large. Needless to say, such role of community-economy must remain in harmony with the requirements of the State’s general plans.

The party’s economic program also stresses the importance of establishing independent investment funds for a part of Zakat and endowment funds to finance health services, education and social services for the poor, hence saving a part of their already limited incomes, which helps them to lead a better life, and perhaps even get into investment.

Emasculating, even unto castrating, people world wide by failing to teach the lesson of individual rights and responsibilities to set your own levels of “No trespassing” signage / icons. FB, your are making the assumption of guilt, and the denial we are all brothers and sisters […] under one God. Instead of teaching people to speak for themselves and give them the tools / choices to do it, you substitute your will for the independent wills of “We the people”, and then ‘fish’ for interpersonal networks which are swiped by total strangers when you use face book to sign on to a web page that demands the links, and friends, and right to post as you, etc. etc. etc.

Facebook has shifted responsibility unconstitutionally…

William Penn's message re: unconstitutional Facebook policy of violating the assumption of innocence by not requiring people who don't want "strangers" to friend them to put up notification of same on their images paraded along the right margin - Screen Shot 2011-12-27 at 6.06.00 PM

William Penn
FB needs to require the fb members appearing on the “People You May Know” list to select a “no strangers” choice on their preferences so an icon appears and friend requests are automatically returned to strangers telling them you need to send a message first asking permission to send a friend request. Please see the prior post for further details. Thanks

William Penn
It’s unconstitutional for Facebook to prohibit making friend requests of strangers on Facebook – you have the right to talk to anyone you meet on the street, or on the internet. Further, Facebook compounds the problem by parading people along the right margin building up frustration that you can’t “handle the merchandise” because who is a ‘stranger’; xref: “People are strange when you’re a stranger,” (Morrison, Jim) – We are all brothers and sisters moving closer to 100% Independence, though never able to achieve that ideal. Facebook needs an etiquette, or procedure – people who are willing to be friended without a message being sent first need an icon to show they’ve made that choice. People who want a message first need an icon for that choice. People who don’t want a message from people they don’t know need a third icon for that choice, and people who don’t want people they don’t know to visit their page might already have that choice. The rules are so subjective and unclear now fb risks loosing a lot of money if who proves a suicide, or other physical or mental injury occurred [spell check glitch] – due to this unconstitutional policy which contradicts, “Knock and it shall be open, seek and ye shall find,” – it’s up to Facebook users to put up “No Strangers” icons. Not for Facebook to intimidate us about seeking. If something bad has already [^] happened due to strangers friending people, current Facebook rules are not solving the problem. [^] [[whump]] [jet]

LinkedIn might actually be less independent than Facebook if you think about it. Simply to send a message to whom, LinkedIn claims you must know the person, whereas Facebook says to “friend” a person you must know them.

[thn/]

What face book fails to do is offer the message, response, offer of friendship odometer.

The US Constitution gives us the right to address anyone. The question is can a private organization which solicits the general public [thn/] to enter restrict our right to address another person [thn/] before the other person chooses to say, “No, thank you,” or not?

xref; Paternalism; xref: personal preferences. When an offer of friendship, or a message arrives, the receiver should get a message board explaining the choices and rules and protections to not fear saying, “No,”

By trying to pre-empt that… who destroys the constitution – literally the stand – with: ‘con’ from the Latin meaning ‘with’, and ‘stitu’ meaning ‘stand’. And with the undermining of the constitution, comes the decay of whose tourism business. – in the long run.

It’s like people trying to run a restaurant where they ‘serve’ people to other people.

Who has menu line items in mind and tantalizes whom with what, but doesn’t really have logical ground rules to permit anyone to address anyone, but have to wait to respond a second time for at least what duration, or if a response comes back, or to cease and desist if the OTHER person, not the matte de’ says, “[tn/]No,”

Does that make sense?
